Ford Escape Performance

The Ford brand is built upon a reputation of muscle, and the Ford Escape can put up some serious weight thanks to the several engine options available to choose from. Featuring a four-engine lineup, Ford Escape drivers can customize how they ride.

Standard on the 2021 Ford Escape is a 181-horsepower 1.5L EcoBoost® engine with Auto Start-Stop technology and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Auto Start-Stop technology allows the Ford Escape to optimize fuel economy by seamlessly turning the engine off and on when the vehicle is stopped at red lights.

Also available on the Ford Escape is a potent 250-horsepower 2.0L EcoBoost® engine. Adventure-ready and impressively powerful, this powertrain allows you to achieve the Ford Escape's maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Ford Escape Hybrid Performance

Rounding out the four-engine lineup for the 2021 Ford Escape are two hybrid engines that are perfect for drivers who are looking for ultimate fuel economy or alternative fuel options.

The first hybrid option is a 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 engine. Featuring a 96kW electric motor combined with a gasoline engine, this engine will garner a total of 200 horsepower, as well as an EPA-estimated 44 city/37 highway combined MPG.

There is also a Plug-In Hybrid version of the Ford Escape on the market, that allows drivers to plug in and charge their battery in the comfort of their own home. Charge in 10 to 11 hours using the level one 110-volt charger or bump up to level two and charge completely in roughly three and a half hours.

The Ford Escape also includes five selectable drive modes to choose from, which allows for optimal driving in varying conditions. Settings include:

  • Eco
  • Sport
  • Normal
  • Slippery
  • Deep Snow/Sand
